Os Beatles – o que eram?

Os Beatles foram um grande sucesso na década de 60 do século passado e, até hoje, suas músicas ainda são tocadas e muitos são os seus fãs. Quatro rapazes ingleses, de cabelos compridos e sempre de paletós pretos, formaram uma banda que se tornou lenda na história da música. Posteriormente, mudaram as cores dos paletós mas, sempre trajaram roupas formais, pelo menos depois que formaram a banda definitiva.

Seus componentes eram: John Lennon (guitarra rítmica e vocal), Paul McCartney (baixo, piano e vocal), George Harrison (guitarra solo e vocal) e Ringo Starr (bateria e vocal).

Liverpool, 1960 – Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe (baixo) e Pete Best (bateria) criavam uma banda de rock que viria a se tornar a mais bem sucedida banda da história musical popular. Inicialmente, não tinham o nome da banda que passaram a usar.

O nome The Beatles é uma mistura de beetle (besouro) com beat (batida). O primeiro nome da banda foi The black Jacks que, logo depois, foi substituído por The Quarrymen segundo informações da Wikipédia. Antes de seu nome definitivo, a banda teve vários outros nomes. Em 1962, passaram a ter a formação definitiva que perdurou até a extinção da banda em 1970, quando cada um seguiu sua carreira solo. Chegaram a ser condecorados pela rainha da Inglaterra com o título de ‘Membros da Ordem do Império Britânico’.

O filme Os reis do iê, iê, iê

Richard Lester, o extraordinário diretor de ‘A bossa da conquista… e como consegui-la‘ realizou um filme que, posteriormente, se tornaria ontológico: ‘Os reis do iê, iê, iê‘  que apresentava o estrondoso sucesso dos Beatles na Inglaterra. Uma multidão de fãs, principalmente do sexo feminino, gritava e chorava nas apresentações da banda. O filme, foi quem introduziu os Beatles no Brasil em 1964, quando aqui, vivíamos em uma ditadura implantada pela revolução, que ficou conhecida como a Revolução de 64.

Eu assisti a este filme, um ano depois de seu lançamento, no Cinema Art-Palácio, numa tarde de domingo, no dia 18 de julho. Adorei! As músicas, me contagiaram. Tornei-me fã instantâneo daquele grupo maravilhoso e, daí em diante, nunca mais deixei de procurar estar perto daquela banda.

Nesta primeira parte deste relato, transcreverei aqui, tudo num só lugar, as letras das músicas que são tocadas no filme citado. Disponibilizarei também, clipes delas no Youtube para que, aqueles que visitarem esta postagem, possam ouvir e desfrutar, de forma mais plena, essas maravilhosas músicas, que mexem tanto comigo há 50 anos. Por ordem de execução no filme, seguem então as letras.
